2010 Rock Climbing Results Are In

2nd- Adarsh Mahalingam 5,450 points
3rd- Cole Sharp 4,400 points
4th- Caitlin Dibiase 3,100 points
5th- Hanah Ingram 2,900 points
6th- Krista Hammermiller 2,100 points
7th-Lauren Sharp 1,500 points

There were 7 people who competed in the beginner section on the competition.  All of the competitors did a great job in this year’s comp.  Many of them cheered each other on and were very excited about competing.  They all had a blast and did a great job.  Everyone had a little challenge climbing the walls but all had a lot of fun with it.

4th- Jacob Luhn 13,400 points
5th- Will Martimer 6,000 points
6th-Carson Hannas 8,100 points
7th- Patti Cleary 14,300 points

All the competitors in the intermediate level did a great job. Kolbi was back to defend her win from last year. The format was changed for this level. They had to climb 10 hard routes to qualify for the final. They all had to climb one route.  Who ever got the highest got first so on and so on. We had had a four way tie. They way the tie was scored. Was there points they scored back at the qualifying rounds. There were two kids that entered the intermediate level who are in the Mountaineers class on Monday night. Their hard work and competitive edge helped them with this competition.

The advanced level was a blast to watch. All the competitors did an awesome job. These guys had fun and enjoyed the comp. they had the same set up as the intermediate. They all had to climb 10 rounds to qualify for the finals. Whoever got the highest got 1st and so on. This was Brett first competition. He did a awesome job. They had a lot of fun.

Boy & Girl Scout Climbing Badges
Did you know the Kenosha YMCA offers a five hour class covering all the requirements of the Climbing Merit Badge? Requirements include: belaying, rappelling, knot tying, rope management and other safety requirements.

Military One-Source
Armed Services YMCA and Department of Defense partnership gives military families access to youth development, family strengthening, and health and well-being programs.
As part of the new Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Outreach Initiative, the Kenosha YMCA will provide military families with access to youth development, family strengthening, and health and well-being programs at community YMCAs nationwide.  Membership fees will be underwritten by the DoD and administered through Military OneSource, an information and referral service for military families. Eligible military families participating in the initiative are eligible for YMCA memberships based on participation requirements. Those eligible to participate in the new initiative include: all interested families of joint deployed National Guard and Reserves of all military branches; families living in newly established Joint Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) bases; Active Duty Independent Duty station personnel and their families; and Relocated spouses and family members of deployed Active Duty personnel.
